First Snowboarding Trip

I've never really had the desire to ski or snowboard but then I figured I needed to at least give it a chance so Thursday night Steven and I drove up to Flagstaff, stayed with his aunt and uncle, woke up early and headed up to Snowbowl.

We put me into lessons for 2 hours which helped a TON. I don't think I would have ever even stood up without the lessons. I had some pretty good falls but eventually got to where I could go down the hill (bunny hill that is :o) without falling. I couldn't do my "toe edge" without falling so I guess we just need to go again so I can work on that! The hardest part for me was getting off the ski lift! I fell 3 out of the 5 times...oh well!

It was such a fun day. Steven and I had a blast. I'll definitely go again!

This video makes me laugh--yes, I'm very much a beginner :o) You'll hear me say at the beginning "I have to get my groove". If I would stop for too long, I'd lose my "groove" and would need a few runs to get back into it.

A Dream Come True

For those of you who really know Steven, he L-O-V-E-S pazookies. For those of you who don't know what they are, it's a pizza cookie, half-baked, real gooey and you put ice cream on it when it's hot and it melts and well, you get the point.

Steven, almost every day (not kidding) says he wants one. Anyway, on New Year's Day we went over to my sister-in-law's parents to play games and stuff and while we were there Brooke comes in with a wrapped present and says it's for Steven. Well, come to find out, they're "skookie" pans--pans you can make your own pazookie with. He was really excited. I think the Mortensen's are his new best friends :o)

So, last night we decided to try them out. Our recipe wasnt' quite as good as Oregano's or BJ's but the cookies were actually really soft and good. Now we don't have to go out and buy a pazookie anymore--Steven can make and eat them from the comfort of his own home. And he can stop bugging me every night about going to get one!

3 Years

Steven and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary on Tuesday. I had school all day and Steven had work so we couldn't really do a whole lot (and we're going to New York in March for it) but we still had a blast. Steven came home with flowers for me and then we left and got pedicures. Steven did it for me but I think he actually enjoyed it in the end. After that we went to the Melting Pot. We had never been before and decided it'd be fun to go for our anniversary and it so was! We had a blast. The food and whole experience was good. I took pictures the whole night because it was so much fun.

First course: cheese dip with bread, apples, and veggies

3rd course (I skipped #2 because it was just a salad): we got lots of good stuff here! There was a little of everything-lobster, chicken, shrimp, filet mignon, NY strip, bratwurst, and ravioli. Then there were tons of amazing sauces and spreads. We cooked everything in Caribbean flavored broth--so good!



Dessert--SO good! Of course. We got the s'mores fondue which was milk chocolate with marshmallow creme and graham crackers sprinkled on top. It came with strawberries, bananas, rice krispies, cheesecake, brownies, marshmallows, graham crackers, and pound cake. Wow


Surprisingly we weren't full because everything comes in small portions. But it was perfect.

And last of all, I made our "3rd year of marriage" book. I've done one every year--it just has picture highlights from the previous year. They're a lot of fun and I hope I can keep the tradition going! Anyway, it has been an amazing 3 years! I love Steven with all of my heart and we have the best of times together. I love our life.

A Trip Up To Good Ol' Holbrook

Our niece Macy had her first birthday party on Friday night. Unfortunately, I couldn't get off work until 5:00 so we missed the party. We still had fun though that night. We all played dance dance revolution and rockband. Saturday morning we went to the Rock Shop and looked at all the neat stuff (it's where you can buy petrified wood and stuff). We've been before but this time the whole family was there and it was fun for the kids.
After the rock shop we went and did some geocaching and looked at some petroglyphs. It was cold but we had fun! When we got back to Kyle and Alli's place we got ready for the "big game" by having a barbecue. Unfortunately, it wasn't much of a game. Anyway, everyone left Saturday evening but Steven and I. We decided to stay one more night. Kyle and Alli's friends came over and we played a game that was really fun. Sunday we drove home! It was a fun, relaxing weekend. Now it's time for the craziness/no sleep/messy house/pathetic meals to begin...A.K.A. school.

A Change

I changed my recipe blog (what little there is of it) to:

I've been trying new stuff lately so keep an eye out. And ladies--as I said before on my recipe blog, I usually don't post a recipe until I get Steven's approval so that means you can make these "dishes" for your husbands/sons/whoever. But...don't blame me if they/you don't like it :o)

My Birthday & New Year's Eve

For my birthday my mom came up to be with me and my sis-in-law Brooke came up as well. My mom, Brooke, Carson, Josh, Trish, Clarice, Jaron, Steven, and I all went out to dinner at BJ's that night and had a great time. Unfortunately (fortunately for me :o), now that I have the camera, I'm not in any pictures and I didn't even take my camera to dinner anyway so I don't know why I just said that...
Anyway, 22--it was a great birthday :o) For New Year's Eve we went out to Surprise with Brooke and Travis and my parents. We had a great time playing games, eating food and trying to stay awake :o) Here are a few pics from the night.

We call him iPaul now--he got an iPod touch for Christmas and yeah...we think he likes it a little :o)

Okay, so really cute story--Steven fell asleep and Carson came over and just squatted down and started planting kisses on Steven. Steven woke up of course (probably wondering who was slobbering all over his face :o) but I made him pretend like he was asleep still so I could get some pictures. It was precious :o)

Christmas Time (Picture Overload)

We had a great week leading up to Christmas. We had my work Christmas party where we walked away with some fun stuff (very nice blue-ray player that we won’t ever use J and a Bose sound dock which we ARE using) and some $$. Always a great time at that Christmas party.

Steven got me my Christmas present early so I could use it before and during Christmas and that was a new camera! I love it but I still need to learn how to use it! I just experiment for now but it’s still fun. So anyway, Tuesday night before Christmas we went out to Buckeye and hung out with Steven’s family. We played lots of games, played with the kids, had a little scare while I was running (seizure or dehydration-not sure which one) so I spent Wednesday resting and not having too much fun. At the doctor on Wednesday I was told I couldn’t exercise for a couple weeks so…no more half marathon for us! I was really bummed but there will be others I’m sure.

Anway, we celebrated Christmas day on Christmas Eve because Steven’s dad had to work Christmas day. We woke up and opened presents (which were great—thanks everyone) and then Steven and I packed up to head down to Benson. I love Christmas Eve in Benson! When we got there the girls were wrapping presents so I joined in and then we started/finished the preparations for the Christmas Eve dinner. I think we had around 30 people there. It was great!

Surprisingly we finished early with dinner and just got to relax because we had for once, done all of our wrapping before!

Christmas Day we opened presents of course and had a blast and then spent the day playing with what we got and lounging about.

We had a great time with friends and especially family. Of course we all got hit with the stomach flu on Sunday, which was horrible but we’re grateful it waited until after the holidays. Hope everyone had a merry Christmas!
