2 Years

Well, as you may know from the previous post that Steven wrote, today is our official two-year anniversary. Time has seriously just flown by! I'm starting to get holidays and summers mixed up now (what year we did what, was it this year or last year? etc.). I love being married and I love being married to Steven. I really never thought I'd get married when I was 19 but I know it's what I needed. Steven has helped me become who I am and has helped me do things I never thought I could do. Now we're just enjoying life together and I wouldn't have it any other way right now. We have so much fun and I'm really enjoying these years we have alone because I know we'll never get them again. It's such a special time for us.
Probably one of my favorite things about Steven is he's never embarrassed to do something with me. When we were having our picnic the other day I said that to him. I said, "I'm so glad you'll come out here and do this with me." He doesn't think it's stupid or cheesy like some other guys might and no, he doesn't just do it for me. I know him and I know he enjoys stuff like that. He's so romantic. :)
Anyway, happy anniversary to us! I'll be in school until 10 o'clock tonight so it hasn't been all that great but that's why we celebrated early. I know we'll probably have more anniversaries like this in the future but it's okay. We've been so fortunate to be able to spend as much time together as we do. We're definitely blessed in that regard.
I look forward to many years together with Steven. He's a WONDERFUL husband and I love him with all my heart. He's my best friend.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

I know that we actually celebrated out anniversary last week, but there really isn't anything like the actual day.

I look back two years ago and try to imagine what was going through my head. I had met this girl about 6 months earlier and had fallen in love almost instantly! I remember seeing her and wanting to talk to her and get to know her. I thought, and still do think so, that she was the most beautiful person I had ever seen. I HAD to talk to her.

Finally we were able to go out on a date and we had a great time. We spent a LOT of time together in the end of August and beginning of September. I loved her right away. I didn't have much choice, she was hard no to love!

Two years ago today we were married. As most of you know, we were married for time and all eternity and there is no way I would choose anything less. I was nervous and excited for whatever it was that marriage brought. It truly has been a great two years. I've learned a lot from my bride and appreciate all that she has done for me. I love you Meghan!

The Happiest Place On Earth

Steven and I went to Disneyland for our 2nd date (yes, SECOND) and decided to go back for our 2nd anniversary. We've had it planned for months and I never thought it would get here! Finally we left :) on Sunday and got into Anaheim about 6:00. I LOVE long drives with Steven. It's one of the best times for us to talk and laugh and be goof-balls without any distractions. We were bad though and listened to the Cardinal's game until it cut out.

We checked into our hotel and got settled in for the night. Monday came and we were up and ready to go to Disneyland and California Adventure just about as soon as it opened (8am). We spent the whole day running from ride to ride and having a blast. We got SOAKED on Splash Mountain and that kind of put a damper on things because we were wet-shoes, hair, jeans, you name it. So...we went back to our room ($4 shuttle took us back and forth all day) and took a nap, ate lunch and then headed back for more fun! I was sooo excited for that night because we were going to be eating at the Blue Bayou (restaurant inside Pirates of the Caribbean). Anyway, we finally got and in and were seated and were handed the menu. I seriously wanted to cry because there were like 10 things to choose from and I wanted NONE of them. I was sooo mad. I finally settled on short ribs, Steven with the shrimp Jambalaya. The ribs were TERRIBLE and Steven's jambalaya was too spicy. Just about the only thing I liked were the rolls. I was seriously so mad and will NEVER eat there again.


Anyway, Tuesday came. Tuesday was better because we'd already hit all the rides so we weren't so concerned about getting around to everything. We just did rides over and if it was California Screaming we did it over...and over...and over again. Absolute favorite ride! We enjoyed corn dogs, whipped pineapple juice and churros! Everytime we passed a churro stand Steven would be there with his $3.00 waiting for one :) Anyway, the lines weren't bad at all, even on Monday. Tuesday night we went back to our hotel a little bit early (5:30) and went and ate at the Cheesecake Factory since it was right across from our hotel and I'd never been there and our dinner the night before was horrible so we were making up for it :). There was almost TOO much to choose from there. Once we got back to our hotel we turned on the tv so we could watch Biggest Loser :) We're dedicated...oh, and we did watch the inauguration before we left that morning.


Wednesday we checked out of our hotel and then headed over to the parks once again! We went on all the rides once again...ate more corn dogs...hoped it wouldn't rain any more than it already had (just sprinkles) and had fun!!


If we ever did it again I'd probably only do 2 days. 2 seems like just the right amount of time. We were mainly there on Wednesday just because we had already paid for the 3rd day (even though it's only $6 more than a 2-day when you buy it online). Anyway, we had so much fun! I never once thought about school or work or anything at home. We were kids again and loved every minute of it!


I love Disneyland and am so glad it was created. Everyone is so happy and I love how it's just a clean, good-feeling environment. You really do just get to step away from all the filth in the world and be young again. I got kind of emotional Monday night when we were watching the firework show and they quoted Walt Disney saying, " To all who come to this happy place: Welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past... and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America... with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world.

Just a few pictures from my birthday (on the Gondola ride), New Year's Eve (spent with the Beagley's), and a picture from the other night when Brooke and Carson were over. They came over for dinner on Tuesday and then we had a night of switching back and forth between The Biggest Loser and American Idol. :)

Christmas--Way Over Due

I know this post is way late but, who really has time to blog during the holidays?! Anyway, we had a wonderful Christmas and were fortunate enough to spend time with both families! The Monday night before Christmas we headed out to Buckeye to be with Steven's family (everyone got to be there) We made rice krispy treat houses, played games (Rockband), and just hung out. On Wednesday morning we got up early, opened presents and then left to go down to Benson. Steven's parents got us another sleeping bag and tent so we can go camping! We also got a game and a Scentsy warmer (love it!). Anyway, once we got to Benson it was time to go to work. Mom had most of the goodies already baked but then we had to get ready for the Christmas Eve dinner. We had SO much food and it was so much fun getting ready for it. It's a lot of work but I wouldn't want to spend Christmas Eve any other way! Right before dinner starts we have to go down to the end of our driveway to see Santa come down on the fire truck (it's just tradition) and then we go back to work. I think we had close to 30 people there. I love every minute of it. We played Christmas trivia and then had carolers come by (same family every year!). After everyone left we finished wrapping Christmas presents and then headed down to the nativity scene at the Barney's. It's just the perfect way to "end" Christmas. It's so peaceful and it brings the Spirit back.

The Nativity

I tried getting Steven a Wii for Christmas but he kept saying no (yeah, we don't surprise each other, although he did when he got me my vita-mix!) because he wouldn't get his homework done if it was there but after playing it down at Mark and Carrie's he remembered how fun they are and the Saturday after Christmas we went searching and found one at Target! They're not nearly as fun as I thought they'd be but it gives us something to do when we're bored at home. And Steven still gets his homework done :)

Hope everyone had a good Christmas! We sure did! I was sad at first to see it go but I'm kind of glad it's over now. I like getting back into a routine and not having so much junk-food around! :)

Lion King!

This past Saturday we were able to go see The Lion King at Gammage--it was AMAZING!! My mom came up with Janice Stewart (good family friend) and we went to dinner before and then headed over. We had so much fun together and had great seats too! We were in the orchestra seating but in the very back. During the opening scene we heard someone singing right behind us and just assumed it was the guy behind us joining in and singing and then all of a sudden there's a huge rhinoceros (not real but still very big) walking down the aisle by us (we had aisle seats). It kind of startled us as first and this happened a few times during the performance.

Everything was so incredible though--I'd go see it again in a heartbeat. Just the way the costumes were done and how graceful everyone is, it's so good! I was a little worried that Steven wouldn't like it because he's not really into that kind of stuff but after the first scene was over he leaned over to me and said, "I'm satisfied." :)

Anyway, go see it if you get a chance. It's definitely worth the money!

My Vita-Mix

Let me just start by saying that I absolutely LOVE my Vita-Mix. How I lived without this thing before I do not know. I have to thank my wonderful husband for surprising me with this Christmas morning. I really had no clue he had bought it. For once he was able to surprise me ;)Anyway, so far I've made:

Fruit smoothie: blackberries, banana, orange, pear, apple, strawberries, carrot and spinach. No artificial anything! They taste so good!

Salsa: canned tomato with green chilies, garlic cloves, bell pepper, Serrano pepper and cilantro! It makes it just perfect.

Vegetable soup: I did this for lunch today and was a little hesitant but it turned out great. I put in some beef broth, carrots, cabbage, bell pepper, celery, tomatoes and garlic and after about 3 minutes in the Vita-Mix I had a nice hot soup!

Orange sorbet: fresh oranges, ice, and some sugar. This wasn't exactly sweet but it was nice and refreshing. Better choice than ice cream I guess.

Blender pancakes: You can make these in any blender but it's faster in this one. It's just wheat, oil, eggs, you know, pancake stuff. They're really good and have more nutritional value than regular box/bag stuff.

If you're wanting to make better health choices I would definitely recommend this. I know exactly what is in my food. I'll never have to buy baby food too(I'm NOT pregnant)! That's definitely a plus. Anyway, I know I sound like a demonstrator/sales person but I can't help it. I love this thing and wanted to blog about it.
