A Short Trip to Marana

On Saturday we drove down to Marana to spend some time with Steven's brother, Chris and his family. We're definitely NOT used to being around kids--Steven was worn out within the first few minutes of being there! :o) We had lots of fun playing the wii with the boys and just hanging out. We ordered pizza later that night and then headed back home. We definitely need to get down there more to see our nephews! They're too much fun! Here are some pictures. Travis and Wesley and I had a little photo shoot. The boys playing the Wii
We took so many pictures! I wasn't even trying either. Wes just said, "here, take one of my like this." It made me laugh.
Travis tried doing the same thing but couldn't quite get his fingers right.
Chunky Nathan

Kati had them sing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for me and then every time I held the camera up after that, they'd start singing it again. Funny boys.

This video cracked me up because Travis was trying to help Wesley but he doesn't seem to help, more hurt. Wesley was fine of course. There must have been something on the floor because they kept falling down there.

Hello People

Hello people! It's Steven again. I know I have not posted much, but oh well. You get to hear from my great, awesome, beautiful wife, who does a much better job than I would ever do. You all may have already seen the pictures and read a bit about our trip to Puerto PeƱasco (Also known as Rocky Point by the gringo's). We really had a blast down there. The condo was magnificent and we will be renting from the same people when we go back down.

Anyway, Meghan and I got back from church today, which was fun, and decided to go to the fridge for some snacks. When I think of a snack, I think of
a candy bar, cookies, pudding, or something like that. Well, below, you will see the difference between me and Meghan when it comes to snacks.

Well, there it is. Meghan eats cantaloupe and I go straight for the cake. :o) I have such a sweet tooth!

This is Meghan now, I had to add how funny it was because we opened the fridge at the same time, went "yummm" and reached for two completely different things. I'm not a health-nut, I just love fruit!

Pictures

There's another post below this with writing even though I know everyone just looks at pictures on blogs...:o)
I would do a slide show but they don't show up on my blog book...Steven checking out the condo

Just relaxing on the beach
Goofy faces
Steven chillin' under the cabana
There were dolphins right by this boat but I couldn't quite get the picture because i wasn't looking at the camera. They were actually a lot closer to shore before I took this. They were RIGHT by where we had just been swimming. There were quite a few too.
The fun yet painful (I have a very sensitive head) experience with Sandra and Ariseli
They're so cute!
Our chips and salsa bowls for $12 total! We never buy anything but decided it was time to get something--something that we'd actually use!

View from our room. I think they were playing bingo at the time...

We're Home...

Well, we're home from Rocky Point. I'm happy and sad to be home. We had a blast, like always and I can't wait to go back down. I'm already trying to plan a trip down there again before it gets cold! :o) What can I say? I'm a major beach bum. Well, our trip started out EARLY Sunday morning, about 4:00 am and we left about 5:45. Why is it that you can NEVER leave when you say you're going to leave on a vacation? Anyway, we were only about 45 minutes late. We drove down, well, Steven drove, I slept :o) And we made it to church a little bit late but we were still there. I couldn't understand a thing but it was awesome to see everyone there. We didn't know they had 2 branches down there. After church we headed over to our condo, waited about an hour to check in but finally did so. We were sooo nervous that things weren't going to work out because the people behind us in line were checking out and they had a horrible experience with their condo (a.c. not working, being blamed for things that were already broken, no hot water, credit card charges, etc.) They booked through the condo itself but we went directly through the owner so everything was perfect. Our condo looked just like the pictures! We were so relieved. Anyway, we just hung out on the beach the rest of the day, got some tubes and went down the lazy river and just relaxed.
Monday morning we woke up and...I wasn't feeling too good. Let's just say I was downing the Pepto-Bismol and eating lots of toast and bananas. It was awful. I stayed in bed until about 11:00 and we got up and went to town to get some more medicine but I could barely stand the ride because the roads were so bumpy and everytime we went over a bump I thought I was going to throw up. Anyway, Steven dropped me off at the condo, then he went out for some tacos and Thrifty's ice cream. I slept again and when I woke up at about 1:00pm, felt great so we decided it was time to hit the beach/pool. We stayed out until about 4:30 (we even got to play bingo by the pool!) and I started to feel a bit weak so we went inside to lay down and of course, I started feeling not so good again. My stomach felt fine I was just soo cold but Steven said my body was on fire. I think I just got dehydrated from not wanting to drink liquids. Anyway, we went out to dinner that night and I was SO excited to see that they had vegetables. I was sick of Mexican food or bananas so I got some salad but on the way home we stopped and got Thrifty's. I didn't care if it hurt, I was going to eat some ice cream. We went back to the condo and I crashed. It was wonderful.
Tuesday morning we woke up bright and early and I was feeling great so we put on our swimsuits and went down to the beach. We went for a long walk and then jumped in the water. It felt great. We were sitting there when Steven said there were fish around him. I stood up and looked and he had these three TINY fish swimming by his arm. They wouldn't leave his side. They would just stay right by him. I told him they were probably looking at you saying, "I think it's a butt."Anyway, they were so stinkin' cute. After we got out of the ocean we laid out for a while and then had our friends Sandra and Ariseli braid my hair. We met them in May and they braided Brooke's hair and we saw them again! They're sweet girls and even though I don't like to have my hair braided, we did it anyway! After that we packed up and checked out of our condo. We went shopping a little bit and bought two bowls for chips and salsa. We also made one last stop at the taco stand and Thrifty's :o)
It was a fun trip, I just wish I wasn't sick! I'm putting the pictures on a different post since there are a lot.

Steven's Birthday

Here are some pictures from Steven's birthday. After Steven got home from work we got ready and went to Arizona Mills and met up with our friends Loren and Kylie for lunch/dinner at Garcias in the mall. It was lots of fun and the food was good. They even brought Steven a little fried ice cream and sang to him. After that Steven, Loren, and I drove to the D-backs game (Kylie had a bridal shower to go to) and then Steven's younger brother Derek met up with us. Our seats were AWESOME and we won too! It was a great game and fun to watch. We even got free parking right by the stadium so it really couldn't have been any better. We came home and Clarice and her roommate Jana came over (Clarice just moved back to AZ from Idaho) and we all ate cake and talked and then everyone left. Steven and I stayed up packing until about 2:00 in the morning for Rocky Point so needless to say, we were tired.

Sundays

For me, Sunday is the best day of the week. I don't have to work on Monday or Tuesday so I know it's just the start of something good. It's such a relaxing day and I don't have to worry about a thing. Sometimes we can get kind of bored because we're done with church at 11:30 so we usually invite people over or go to someone's house and play games or eat. The Sunday I went to the hospital was such a great day. We made ribs and rolls and green beans and then it just poured for a good hour. I love the rain. It's so refreshing and here in Mesa, it definitely cools things off quite a bit! After dinner we went over to the Beagley's (family in our ward) and played games for a couple of hours. We love going over to their house. They're so much fun and we feel like family there. Anyway, it was just a good day and I wanted to blog about it for my blog book that I'm currently making. It's just my way of journaling events. Our super yummy dinner

A Shout Out to the Birthday Boy!

Today is Steven's birthday and I just wanted to publicly tell him "Happy Birthday!" The big 24! He's so humble about having all the attention so it's hard to get him excited about a day that's all for him. So far it hasn't been too exiting but it's bound to get fun! :o) I made him his favorite breakfast (pumpkin pancakes and buttermilk syrup), made his birthday cake and then he opened his presents (he knew what they were before he got them) and now he's at work :o( Poor guy. We're leaving for Rocky Point in the morning and he's going to be gone from work for 2 days so he's making sure everything is good to go. My work gave me Diamondback tickets for today so we're going to that with Steven's little brother, Derek and Steven's good friend Lauren. They're supposed to be really good seats so I'm excited for that and they were free so....can't complain.
Anyway, Steven deserves to have the best day because he's so awesome. He's my best friend and I can't imagine life with someone else. I'm grateful to have him as my husband and I appreciate all his hard work to make sure we're taken care of. We'll hit our 1 1/2 year mark next week and it's crazy to think we've been together almost 2 years. Time goes by fast. I'm still amazed that I haven't got sick of him yet ;o) Just kidding...Anyway, Happy Birthday Steven! I love you!!!!

An Exciting Sunday!!

(Warning: Long Post, well, not compared to Alliene's "long posts"! when she says it, she means it :o)

Well, Sunday was fun in some ways, not so much in others. We got up early and went to church, came home, took a nap while Steven did his home teaching and then I left to go do my visiting teaching and he slept! When I was leaving a girl's house, I opened her door and it was pouring rain! (what else?) Fortunately I was done because I just love being at home during a rain storm. When I got home Steven had all the windows open and it was coming down HARD. It rained for a good hour. We sat down and ate our yummy ribs for dinner (not our own of course) and then went over to the Beagley's (family in our ward) and played games all night! They taught us some new ones and we taught them as well. It was so much fun and nice to get out of our little apartment. When we got back we got ready for bed and then...the fun part :o)
Friday night I had some sharp chest pains and then a panic attack and then some more constant pressure on my chest throughout Saturday and Sunday as well. It made me a little nervous of course but I kept waiting for it to pass. We went to bed at about 9:00 and then about 10:30 I woke up with sharp pains in my left arm followed by numbness/tingling . That kind of scared me so I stayed up for a bit but finally decided to lay back down. The next thing I woke up to was sharp pains in my lower back, still numb arm, and even more chest pressure. I'm a little bit scared at this point and poor Steven's now awake. He wanted to take me to the hospital but I kept refusing. All I wanted to do was go out for a drive to take my mind off of things (I was afraid of another panic attack--they're not fun) so we went driving and while we're driving I call a nurse hotline and tell her everything and she says to go to the hospital right away just in case. So by now my heart is really pounding because I've never been to the ER and I was scared silly. For those of you who don't know me, I have the weakest stomach of anyone you will meet. Just the fact that we were in the ER made me feel like I was going to pass out. I kept asking everyone, "are there needles? is there blood required?" Well, come to find out they're going to run a bunch of tests on me and give me a CT scan which, you guessed it, required an iv. It took forever because they had to give me medicine to calm me down because I was FREAKING out. The guy came in to do it and said "Meghan Carbonneau?" and i said "nope!" and he said" too bad! you have to do it." I was ready to just leave and deal with not knowing what was wrong. Anyway, so after what seemed like forever, the iv was in. I'll have to say Steven was the best hospital buddy to have there. We were laughing so hard and had so much fun. He kept me happy and took my mind off the iv and everything. So, by this point it's probably about...2:30 in the morning and they take me to get my CT scan but that didn't happen for another hour at least. The scan wasn't as bad as I thought except for the part where they inject the iodine in your body and it makes you feel like you're on fire and that you're peeing all over yourself...yeah, not fun.
Well, at about 5:15 we were sent home. Everything turned out fine, just an atypical pain that was probably just caused by stress or something. I'm not quite sure. I was just watching Spiderman 3 when I had the panic attack...wasn't causing me THAT much stress. Anyway, it was a fun night and we're glad everything is okay and I'm alive and kickin'.

4th of July

I was so excited to go to Benson this year for the 4th because it's a small town and everything is different in a small town. We left Thursday night and were supposed to meet up with Josh and Trish in Tucson for dinner but they weren't able to make it so we went anyway! We stopped in Marana and ate at Texas Roadhouse and then kept going! We stayed up late talking with everyone and having fun, like always. Everyone was there except for Amy. Friday morning Steven and I got up and went running and the weather was gorgeous. It was so much cooler than Mesa but about 50 times more humid. So, really, the weather wasn't all that nice. I definitely prefer the "dry heat". Anyway, we went to the parade which, like every year, just consisted of a bunch of tractors, about 300 jeeps and people running for city positions. It's fun just to be there. After the parade we went and got slurpies (sp?) and went to the park where they have lots of little booths with stuff that no one will buy and then they have the fireman water contest. This year they had the firetruck ladder extended all the way up with the hose attached and at random, they'd turn it on and spray everyone. And then of course we went over to Barney's Auto for the free hot dogs and watermelon. I was kind of a party pooper because it was SO hot and humid--so we left. I just wanted to be cool and dry for a few minutes! When we got home we got good news that the pond was cleaned out so we could go swimming. For those of you who don't know what the pond is, it's a big cement pool-type thing that sits on my uncle's property. It's been there for a long time and the water comes from an artisan well. The water is fresh from the ground and COLD. The water is clean but the pond isn't exactly the cleanest. It's green with slime and there are a lot of water bugs in it but it's a way to cool off so we don't care! It's been good to us for many summers! Braden had lots of fun in it and going down the slide. After the pond we cleaned up and barbecued some soda pop chicken then watched a great firework show from the front lawn.
Saturday was more of just a lazy day. We all went swimming again and then we girls went and all got manicures. It rained off and on during the day and we had some great lightening shows! The boys had fun playing on the quads and getting dirty but what's new? They're boys. We had a great weekend and wish we could have stayed longer!Dad (my dad :o) and a not very happy Mackenzie(which is rare. She's never fussy except when hungry or tired. She's always happy and smiling! We love our little Kenzie-girl). She was probably just hot like the rest of us!This reminded me of the firetruck off of Cars (Fred?)My Uncle Mark, the MayorHaha, At first I had the caption of "My Uncle Mark, the Mayor" under this picture, then realized it was on the wrong one...I don't think he'd appreciate that! :o) Jackie, Clarice, Alliene, not a word. Anyway, I don't know why this was in the parade, just like I don't know why half of the things are in the parade but this dog was HUGE. It doesn't look so in this picture but it was big.Travis and our nephew Braden who is being a pirateTravis found a shopping cart on the side of the road and brought it home and ended up pushing Josh in it all around the yard. We were joking that we looked like major white trash with babies running around in their diapers and a shopping cart in our front yard.
Little Mackenzie sitting with "Grammy" singing songs.

Josh and Mackenize--All of my other videos are going the other direction and are too hard to see.

Congrats!

Our friends Roy and Meagan finally tied the knot and we're so happy we were able to spend so much time with them as well as their family over the past few days. They're an awesome family and we're so excited to have Meagan and Roy close by! For those of you who don't know, they were in our singles ward when we were there and Steven and Roy are good friends. And no one was nice enough to tell me I had a piece of hair flipped up over my head...
