HOBY 2008

Some of you may already know but every year I volunteer at a leadership camp called HOBY (Hugh O'Brian Youth leadership). I attended at the end of my sophomore year and now go back every year as part of the staff. It is by far one of the hardest but funnest things I do once a year. This year we started at noon on Wednesday and got done at 3:30 on Sunday. It consists of about 2-3 hours of sleep a night and 150 sophomores from around the state. This year I was able to be a junior facilitator (I have to be 21 to be an actual facilitator) and it was by far the best year. We had SOOO much fun and I absolutely LOVE the other "jcrew" as we called it. I've been with this group for 4-5 years now and consider them all my closest friends. We had tons of crazy fun having almost no sleep and going to IHOP at 2:00 in the morning. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard around a group of people for 5 days straight.
This year's seminar was so much fun and consisted of listening to a lot of leaders from sports, entertainment, education, government and motivational speakers as well. The ambassadors (students) were able to go to the House of Representatives and go through the process of passing a bill, we did a service project at St. Vicent de Paul, pool part, dance, talent show, and much much more.
HOBY is such a great organization and I'm so happy to be able to be a part of it each year. It is definitely a life-changing experience for the ambassadors and staff as well! Here are some pictures!
