My due date was June 9, 2013 but because of my previous medical issues I knew I'd be induced a week early and so we scheduled our date for Monday June 3rd, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. A few days before we started getting everything ready (laundry, packing, etc.) My mom came up on Saturday and we got pedicures and then she watched Jack so Steven and I could do one last date before the baby arrived.
Sunday came and I got a call from the hospital saying the dr. wanted to move up my induction time to 9:00 a.m. I was excited because I wasn't looking forward to delivering at night but I also kind of panicked because I felt like there was still so much to do to get ready and I had been planning on having Monday to do that!
Monday came and we got up, got ready, called the hospital and were told they weren't ready so just to wait for a phone call on when to come in. Lovely. I hate waiting but it actually helped calm my nerves a bit because instead of being anxious, I was just getting READY to go! At 9:45 a.m. we got the call to come in so we did! Steven's mom, Kathy, stayed with Jack at the house and we were off! We got checked in and by the time they got all my medical history, talked to my dr. and everything, it was about 1:00. My nurse, Donna then had to do my IV which was probably the WORST experience I've ever had. The first one she put in hit a valve and it was seriously the most excruciating pain. I wanted to die. So...she had to try again and it was a little better but then my vein collapsed. So we tried AGAIN and this time it was in the bend of my arm which was not going to be convenient but it wasn't painful there.
At 1:20 I got hooked up to pitocin and at 1:30 Dr. L came in and broke my water. I was dilated to a 3 and 70 % effaced. Things were finally moving along! I had prepared using hypnobabies again and was planning on an unmedicated labor and delivery. I knew only time would tell what would really happen but that was my plan :)
So we just hung out watching HGTV, playing games on our phones and passing time. Around 4:30 my contractions really started picking up and getting intense. Fortunately I had a birthing ball this time around and it was a life saver. I was on it pretty much the entire time. I don't think I ever got in bed! Finally around 5:50 or so I stood up and right away I KNEW it was time to push! I called my nurse in, got checked and sure enough, I was at a 10 and she called everyone in right away and things really got moving! All of a sudden there were about 5 other nurses and Dr. L was coming in! That part seemed to take forever because they kept telling me not to push. I was getting so frustrated because that's all I wanted to do. After a few pushes, out he came at 6:15 p.m. and he let everyone know he was here! He was a loud little thing. He weighed in at 7 lbs 13 oz and was 20 inches long. I was so surprised because that's almost 2 1/2 pounds bigger than Jack was!
Anyway, that was it! He was perfect and healthy and fortunately a fast labor! I was able to have an unmedicated labor which is what I really wanted (I don't know WHY though...it's TOUGH!! jk jk ;o) Using my hypnobabies really helped keep me calm and relaxed which is what I think helped things progress quickly.
We're home now and just loving our little family. Jack is...adjusting like all kids have to! I think it's harder for me than it is for him but we'll figure it out eventually! I love having a newborn again and all the snuggles that come with it. Nothing beats it.
Here we go!!

Glad everything went well. There is a sister in my ward who is training to become a Hypnobabies instructor.
