Back To School!

We finally feel like a "normal" newlywed couple now because we don't see each other anymore! Before we had the exact same schedule but now with school starting and a new job for me, things are a bit different.
We both started school last week on Monday. Steven is only able to take 2 classes right now since he is still working full-time. I have about 7 classes plus private piano instruction but I only work part-time so it evens out! Our classes are both going well so far. Things haven't been TOO stressful yet! We're enjoying the new change and both know it's going to be a permanent one...for the next couple years! Oh the joys of school..:o) Well, just wanted to update everyone on what's going on now. Sorry if we don't call or write as much! We'll try!

$1 Bowling Night!

Sometimes it can be hard to find a cheap date but after looking around a bit, we found a bowling alley that has $1.00 games after 9:00. I didn't have to wake up early the next morning, but Steven did. He was a good sport though! We thought we'd only play two games but after each winning one, we just HAD to do another one so we could do best 2 out of 3. Unfortunately, Steven won :o). We had so much fun and would definitely go again! Here are some pictures from our night. Some of the pictures are kind of blurry.

Palm Springs Pictures

Well, after two fun-filled days at the beach we headed for warmer weather: Palm Springs. Steven and I had never been there and my Uncle Michael has a condo out there and was nice enough to let us stay out there. So, we figured, what the heck, we'll give it a shot. It was hot but relaxing. We didn't do much except relax, swim in the pool and walk down the main street. Saturday morning we got up earlier than usual and went for a bike ride. The weather was perfect and it was a nice ride. Later that day we decided to take the Aerial Tramway up San Jacinto mountain. I never knew it was an "aerial" tramway. There I was thinking it was a nice little tram that wound up around the mountain. Little did I know that I'd be hanging from a few not-so-large cables in a "cab" that has a rotating floor. And little did I know I'd be hanging hundreds of feet up in the air. So needless to say, I was a little bit nervous and as Steven made clear, very white. Often times I felt like we were falling and by the screams of the 50+ people in there with me (I tried, very un-prejudice-like to get with all thin people), I think they felt it too. Once we got to the top, we enjoyed an ice cream cone (probably not the best thing for my stomach after such a ride). The weather had dropped about 40 degrees and for that we were all grateful. I actually would recommend it. It was fun even though it was a bit nerve-wracking! Anyway, I don't think I'll be moving to Palm Springs any time soon but it was a nice getaway. Fun in the Sun!

Well, I finally quit my job so that I could go back to school full time. I had a week off before I started my new job so Steven and I planned to take a vacation to California. The week started off at 3:00 Wednesday morning (after going to bed at midnight!) when we got up and got ready to go. And before I go on I just have to throw this in there and I know Steven's going to kill me :o). The night before we left, Steven wanted to make sure the car was all ready to go so he went out to put air in the tires and after two frustrating phone calls from him, I found out that none of the air compressors he was using at the gas station had enough pressure to put air in the tires. Just when I was about to ask if he was doing it right, he automatically said, "Yes! I know I'm doing it right!" So....we didn't worry too much about it but on our way we decided to stop and try once more to put air in the tires. While he was attempting again, he finally looked down and saw the "gun" I guess you could say, that releases the air...Here's a picture of him after I told him I was never going to let him live it down. We went and saw my Uncle Michael at his store and then took off for the beach (about 10 minutes away!) I love the beach so needless to say, I was excited. The weather was perfect and besides the fact that we had to haul our 2 chairs, 2 ice chests and a backpack down 200 stairs, we had fun. We spent all day down at the beach and although we had no boards or anything, we made perfect use of our bodies and had fun body-surfing! Here are some pictures of us on our first day there.

Later that evening, we were able to take Michael and Jesse out to dinner at the wonderful Mexican food restaurant, Avila's. I definitely recommend it if you're down in the Laguna Niguel area.

On Thursday, we got up nice and early and got ready for yet, another day at the beach. We loaded everything up and dragged it down the stairs once again (I forgot to mention how horrible it was taking everything back UP the stairs :o) We got a little bit more sun on Thursday and it definitely showed...we were fried. We put lots of sunscreen on but it just must not have been enough! But we did have lots of fun. One of the highlights was seeing a family of dolphins. Steven actually pointed them out. He videotaped them while I had the camera and I couldn't quite zoom in close enough with the camera but a fin can be seen. They were actually pretty close to the beach.

After a long and exhausting day at the beach, Steven and I went and got some pizza and wings and went down at started to eat dinner on the beach but after some worrying on my part, we moved up to safer grounds (the water was coming up fast and we were going to get stuck, according to me :o) After that, at about 10:00, we started our drive out to Palm Springs. I'll write about that later but as for now, there's still MORE unpacking and MORE laundry (it's a never-ending task I've realized).

We Love the Rain!!

After a long and busy two months, we FINALLY made it back down to Benson to see my family and my hometown. We drove down Friday night (August 3rd) and enjoyed some pizza with my parents. On Saturday my mom and I drove down to Sierra Vista to see the movie, Hairspray which I definitely recommend....for any female! :o) When we got back from Sierra Vista, we were surprised by Josh, Trish, Braden, Brooke, Travis and Jeremy who all came home to visit! So...we had a full house! The boys all had fun with their new trucks and had fun "looking" at their new 4-wheelers (since they didn't want them out and get muddy :p) We were all sitting around, enjoying the rain when Jeremy came home saying the road had flooded down by our old house. The picture on the right is the road right in front of our old house.

When we got back to the house, we could all smell the familiar aroma of the famous "Fenn Tacos" that mom was making. Mom made these especially for Steven since he'd never had them before! After 7 tacos I think we all came to the conclusion that he enjoyed them! :o)

And of course, we can't forget the little "booga" as we all call him! Little Braden always keeps everyone entertained and we can't wait until there are more nieces and nephews around the house!

Fun Times

This past weekend, Steven and I had the opportunity to go out to his parents to celebrate his birthday and our brother-in-law, Kyle's, as well. We went to church out in Buckeye and came home and enjoyed a great dinner and fun times with the whole family there!
After the weekend it was back to the grind again. Steven and I are both registered for some classes in the fall at MCC. I'm finally on my way to a music education degree and let's just say, I'm very excited about it! I have two more weeks at my current job (UOP) and then Steven and I will be taking about a week off to go to California for some beach time! I'm very excited about that as well, but who wouldn't be?!
Well, just thought I'd update everyone on what's going on. It's not much but it's something!
