I know it's past New Year's but I finally got my pictures put onto my computer. I'll have to say this New Year's was different from other one's I've experienced. Normally I'm hanging out with friends or family at the house or elsewhere but this year Steven and I went with his good friend Loren and his wife Kylie out to the desert to burn Christmas trees. Apparently this has been a tradition among Buckeye families for some time. We drove as far as our little Corolla could make it and then hopped in a truck to drive the remainder of the way. We just hung out for the rest of the time. There were probably about 60 people there and they had dutch ovens going with cobbler, corn bread, and potatoes. They also had a huge grill put over the fire for people to cook their meat on. Once everyone started throwing their huge steaks on their, Steven got a little embarrassed as the size of our steaks (we cut ours into strips). Anyway, it was hilarious seeing this because Steven rarely gets embarrassed and especially over food. It was probably just because he was out with "the guys" and wanted to look good :o) Anyway, I think our steak turned out to taste the best. After dinner we took the 4-wheeler out and then later on, the jeep (the one all the guys went crazy about...don't know what it is with guys and their toys).
Towards the end of the night (9:00) they decided it was time to head out, but before we did we burned some Christmas trees. We had to stand back probably 30 feet because it was so hot. It was a fun night but I'm sad we didn't stay up for New Year's! We were so tired we fell asleep as soon as we got to Steven's parents house.
On New Year's Day, Steven and I along with his mom, brother and sister drove up to the exciting town of Yarnell to visit his great-grandpa and grandparents. We just enjoyed spending time with family and after that, we drove home!
