For our Dads

I was just thinking, "why didn't I say anything about mothers on Mother's Day?" but then I remembered I was in the hospital...oh yeah. So anyway, I just wanted to give a little shout-out to my dad. He was a father in many ways but most of all, he was my dad. I think father is so formal. I prefer Dad, not daddy, just Dad. Of course we always had a billion other names for him too (my personal favorite is Pablo"). Anyway, my dad is great. Simply the greatest guy there is aside from my husband. I had mixed emotions when I got married because my dad was always the one to take care of me and I had to adjust to Steven being the one to take care of me (he's doing a pretty good job so far). Here are some things about my dad that make him so great:

--he's funny
--his laugh is contagious. There's seriously not a more fun time than when my dad is laughing so hard he can't breathe which then makes all of us kids laugh even harder.
--he's the best public speaker I know and gives the most amazing talks
--he's so selfless. Many a time in high school when it would be my "dish night", I'd be up late doing homework and go in to start the dishes and find they were already done by my dad..sometimes he'd go to Circle K too and get me a dr. pepper :)
--any time I'd go anywhere further than to school, he'd check the air pressure in my tires, clean the windows, and check my oil
--he always leaves little notes or sends me funny e-cards that brighten my day
--he's incredibly smart
--he's a 4th grade teacher and was my 4th grade teacher as well! Boy was that fun and quite the experience!! He happens to be the best teacher there is (aside from my mom being the best English teacher there is :). His classroom is always so colorful and full of fun things.
--when I was in middle school and wanted to get out of class, he'd let me come in and put up his bulletin boards and then write me a note excusing me from class :)

Anyway, I could go on forever but those are just a few. Thanks Dad for being the best example of love, forgiveness, and selflessness. I love you!!this picture just makes me laugh....no, this isn't the only reason we love our dads or "loved" I should say. They don't give you money when you're married... :)

Steven may post his own thing about his dad but I'll just say I've been very lucky to have such a great father-in-law as well. I'm grateful Steven was raised by such a good man and had/has a good example in his life. Thanks Robert!

And last but not least, I'm grateful for Steven. I know someday he'll make a great dad. I know he's just dieing for that day to come and hopefully someday it will. Thanks for being so patient babe and understanding. You're the best!
