Martian Child

So on Friday night Steven and I decided to rent a movie and there really hasn't been anything in theaters or anything that I've wanted to rent. We always go, walk around and then decide there's nothing to watch and go home. This time we saw the movie "Martian Child" and i remembered the previews looking cute and fun so we decided to rent it. Worst movie ever. Sorry if I have offended anyone who saw it and liked but Steven and I did not like it at all. There is no point to the movie, no conflict and hardly a storyline. It's extremely slow and boring. Just FYI.

For My Sweet Husband

I just wanted to let Steven know how much I love him and appreciate him. I know people always think they have the best spouse and it's great that so many people feel that way. That's how it should be. There's no one else in this world I would rather be with and I know times can be tough but we have each other to turn to. Thanks for being the wonderful man you are Steven and showing me unconditional love. I love you with all my heart and always will!

Phoenix Boys Choir

For one of my assignments for my accompanying class I had to attend a rehearsal and I got to go to the Phoenix Boy's Choir rehearsal. My teacher is the accompanist for them and she is amazing! Anyway, I've always wanted to go hear a boy's choir perform so I finally got to do it. It was so awesome to see all these young boys singing the way they did and being able to read music and perform these complex pieces. I would definitely recommend seeing them if you ever get a chance. They sound like little boy angels. They're adorable and they'll definitely amaze you.

Goodbye Glasses!

Well, I finally graduated from glasses to contacts. I went in to the optometrist planning on just getting new glasses but decided I was sick and tired of forgetting my glasses or making sure I had them every where I went. So...after about an hour I finally got a contact in. I still had another eye to do, then remove one and put it back in. Now for some of you, you may be wondering what the big deal is with contacts but for those of you who DO know me, I have the weakest stomach in the WORLD. During the process of trying to put my contacts in, I felt sooo sick. I was sweating and lightheaded and I had to keep drinking cold water. It was quite ridiculous. So, I'm happy to say I did it. I was telling Steven there might be some major trauma in the house tonight when I have to take them out :o) It's just so weird to be able to see and not have to wear glasses. I think I'm going to like this...And by the way, if anyone needs an optometrist, Dr. Reed is a great one. My sister-in-law Trish used to work for him and today was my first visit there but I enjoyed their office. They're located on Gilbert and Southern and their office is called EyeCare.
Hooray for me!

A Day Off

It was so nice to have a day off and be able to spend time with Steven. On Sunday we played games, took a nap and then Clarice and her friend Jaron came over. Clarice flew in from Idaho for the weekend and has been staying with us but we haven't really had a chance to hang out so when she got back from Benson at 11:30 we got to hang out! We made no-bake cookies, played DDR and then talked until about 2:45 in the morning. It was good catch-up time. I can't wait until she's back here in AZ. Who knows when it'll be but I'll be happy!
Anyway, Steven and I got up and were going to go hike Camelback but it was so crowded! There was no where to park so we just drove around old Scottsdale and then went to Papago Park for more of a nature walk. The weather was so nice that I didn't want to be indoors at all! When we got home Alli came by on her way home to Holbrook and brought Steven a birthday present from a couple of years ago that she finished. It was a scrapbook of the two of them growing up. It was so cute and I know Steven will always cherish it since he's so close with Alli.

Family Fun

I LOVE when I get to spend time with my family and on Saturday, I got to do that all day! Saturday morning was my sister-in-law, Trisha's, baby shower. My mom, sister-in-law Brooke, and I all rode out to Surprise to go to that. Trisha is due in March and I'm soooo excited to finally have a niece. Her name is going to be Mackenzie Ryan Fenn. Trish got tons of cute stuff at the shower and my brother's girlfriend (also one of my good friends) Olivia was also at the shower--she's practically family! We're just waiting for a wedding..we'll see. Anyway, they had a chocolate fountain and lots of yummy treats to dip in it. After that we went back to Josh and Trisha's and all the boys took my dad out to go look for a truck! While they were gone, we girls ordered Chinese and watched American Idol that Trish had taped.
Finally the boys came home...with a new truck...not one that they had bought of course but one my dad liked very much. It's very rare that my dad does anything for himself so it was fun to see him excited about something for once!
That evening we had a little birthday dinner for Braden who turns two tomorrow! It was fun being with all the family, laughing and having a good time.
Steven and I also did some fried plantains on Friday nights and I was surprised how much I liked them. There are a few pictures of Steven cooking those! And Jeremy's adorable dog Diesel and Olivia sucking helium :o) My dad and Josh weren't too sure what was going on when they walked in the door.

Valentine's Day...

To be honest, I really don't look forward to Valentine's Day. It's a day where things are "expected" to be given or done (flowers, chocolate, candle-lit dinner, etc.) and I don't think things really come from the heart. It's especially hard for us having our anniversary 2 1/2 weeks before where we get to do all that mushy, lovey-dovey, heart-to-heart stuff. So...needless to say we took it pretty easy this V-Day.
Of course we had the normal school and work and then of course I had a wonderful dentist appointment to go to. I probably haven't had my teeth cleaned in 4 or 5 years (gross!) and now I remember why. I hate people poking my gums and pulling every which way on my mouth. But I think the absolute worst part was when they were scraping everything off and it sounded like taking a metal fork and scraping it across a glass plate...I kept getting chills the entire time. It was horrible.
Anyway...I came home and had TWO bouquets of flowers waiting for me that Steven had brought home on his lunch break :o) So sweet. Then, Steven and I hit Texas Roadhouse as soon as he got home from work because we didn't want to deal with the rush of everyone going out to eat on Valentine's Day. Good thing we did too. When we went inside the restaurant we got in right away (3:30), at 4:30 when we came out there were probably 50 people waiting outside. So we came home, relaxed and then made and decorated sugar cookies. Making cookies is fine but after decorating about two cookies, I'm done. Steven felt the same way--good thing we only halved (sp?) the recipe. Here are some pictures of the cookie-making process and my flowers.

You think maybe he didn't want his picture taken? ;o)

I love this flower!
