Last night was Amber's baby shower and it was a lot of fun. It was a barbecue for wife AND husband which made it different from other baby showers. We met at the park and just laughed and had fun with all the other couples there. Steven and I kind of felt left out because almost everyone there had a kid or was pregnant but, our time will come in A FEW YEARS (so stop asking :o) Just kidding...anyway, there were about 10 couples there all from our ward. We love our ward! Anyway, I'll have to get some pictures from Desiree of Steven drinking from the baby bottle. Desiree and Kristyn had the guys do a game where they had two minutes to drink root beer from a baby bottle--it was quite entertaining. They were all complaining afterwards about how their jaws hurt so bad. Steven was a good sport!
Anyway, I made oatmeal-fudge bars which is pretty much one of the best desserts out there...just ask Audrey or Jackie or Clarice :o) (cousins who gave me this recipe). Anyway, Amber wanted me to post the recipe on here so here it is! Enjoy!
1 cup butter
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
2 t. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cup quick oats
12 oz. chocolate chips
2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 cup butter
1 c. chopped pecans
14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk
Cream 1 cup butter and brown sugar. Add eggs and 2 tsp. vanilla. Sift flour, baking soda, and salt. Add to creamed mix; add oatmeal.
In heavy saucepan, mix 1/4 cup butter, sweetened condensed milk and chocolate chips. Heat until all melted. Stir in 2 tsp vanilla (as I was typing this I realized I forgot the vanilla...oh well--still tasted good!)
Spread 2/3 of the dough in a 9x13 greased pan; spread all of chocolate mixture on top; drop remaining dough on top. It works best to kind of flatten the dough first and just lay it in pieces on the chocolate--it doesn't have to cover all the chocolate.
Bake for 25 minutes at 350 degrees.

Thanks for posting the Yummy Recipe! Brennon and I are so excited to try it out! Thanks for coming to the baby shower! It was so good to see you guys!
Um YEAH! I've been like begging Jackie for this recipe for YEARS and she has not given it to me yet! She keeps saying she will...but I never got it! So, THANKS for posting it! You are Awesome...and Jackie I hope you're reading this! Pregnancy is not an excuse! HA!
What is it with Ashley?! I swear I've given her that recipe before. Oh well, thanks for doing the work for me! You forgot to mention that after you cream the butter and brown sugar you should eat some of it because it's yummy! That's what Dresden and I like to do!
Never gave it to me before SIS.....But now I have it. :) Still Love ya!
That sounds like a very fun baby shower! You don't really hear of many that are "co-ed".
I have seen the baby bottle game though, and my mom actually ended up drinking from it, it was hilarious!! She had the hardest time getting anything out of it because the nipple was for a newborn.
I love the new layout!! Was it shabbyprincess again? So cute!
Rootbeer in a bottle...hmmm...that would be hard! But what a great idea! My favorite is always the melted chocolate candies in the diapers and you have to guess what kind of chocolate bar it was! It's fun to see the look on everyone's faces while they try to figure it out! :)
