Rocky Point!

What can I say? We had sooo much fun! I'll just start from the beginning and this will probably be a huge post. We left Thursday morning after STUFFING Steven's uncle's pathfinder with our stuff. Travis and Brooke rode down with us in our car and even then we were still packed! This was Brooke's first time into Mexico so it was definitely an eye opener. She was a good sport with being pregnant! We set everything up and it was so windy it took all of us to set up the canopy's and tents.
Friday morning we woke up and headed straight for the beach. The weather was perfect! Brooke got her hair braided and of course Travis had to buy sunglasses and a hat. We joke that we were the one-stop for all the Mexicans selling stuff! And everytime the mango guy walked by we had to get one! They were delicious. Travis, Brooke and Gary all went into town later on to check out other parts of Rocky Point. Steven and I stayed behind and hung out at the beach more and walked down to some of the new condos. I'm amazed with how much Rocky Point has changed over the years. There are so many new condos and resorts going up! Anyway, Friday night we had our athlete meeting at the Las Palomas condos. It was a little nerve-wracking to see all the people there, people who were very much in shape and ready for the triathlon (unlike me :o) After the meeting we "snuck" into one of the pools there and swam around for a while and then made the trek back to the rv park in the sand. That was the unfortunate thing about going back and forth from the condos to the rv park is it's all beach and no sidewalk or anything--good workout for our calves!
Anyway, of course I was a little nervous and set on getting a good night's sleep (unlike the previous night) so I went to bed early, got up early and went through my mental checklist for the tri about 300 times! For the past couple weeks I was having dreams about forgetting things for the tri and not realizing it until we got there so naturally i was a little paranoid. Anyway, we headed over, got our bikes racked and got body marked. You really feel like a triathlete when you get body marked :o) Anyway, we stood around forever waiting for it to start--we tried getting used to the water but...it was still cold! Steven's wave went 4 minutes before mine, so my group was the last to go. Let's just say the swim part of the tri was a nightmare. I had so many people kicking my head, arms, and legs and trying to breathe when waves are splashing up against you isn't the easiest thing to do...I did a breaststroke 90% of the time just to stay alive! Yeah, it wasn't fun and I was glad when it was over! Travis, Brooke, and Gary were there to cheer me on when I transitioned to the bike. Steven was already way ahead of me of course. The bike was fun--the weather was so nice and I just took my time! There were a couple of steep hills that I had to walk my bike up but other than that, it was great! I think I enjoyed the run the most because it was on a golf course and despite the 100 hills, it was a good run. I passed Steven as he was on his way back...I was just starting! :o) Anyway, of course the best part was finishing! The finish line was on the beach and everyone was there to cheer me on! I was super excited just to finish and was so happy to see Steven there at the end waiting for me. He was afraid I had drowned on the swim (see what faith he has in me ;o) so needless to say, he was happy to see me too! Although we only did the sprint tri it was still SOO much fun and now we're both hooked! We can't wait to do more and actually try a little harder in future ones. Steven did really well and got 2nd place in his age group! Anyway, it was a fun race and we can't wait to do it next year!
After we left the condos we went and splurged and went to Thrifty's to get ice cream then we just relaxed on the beach for a couple of hours. It was so nice to be done with the tri and just relax and eat whatever the heck we wanted. We even went into town and got some tacos from a delicious little taco place on the side of the road!
When we came back we showered and got ready to go out to dinner! We went to a neat place that sits over the ocean. When we were walking up they said "Is upstairs, outside okay?" Ummm..yeah. The weather was gorgeous and it was fun to sit and watch the boats and we even saw some dolphins and fireworks! Our food was good and we had great company! When we got back we played a few rounds of Scattergories and went to bed!
Sunday morning we packed up and came home! We had to sit at the border for about 45 minutes but it gave us plenty of time to buy fresh tortillas from the kids selling them on the side of the road. We went through 2 dozen between the 4 of us in that time. Yeah, I wasn't feeling too well after that! Steven made me laugh because there was this old man walking on the side of the road with a cup for money and Steven rolled the window down and gave him a couple dollars and said "here's some money because you're not trying to sell me anything stupid!" like everyone else that walks around in Mexico! They're trying I guess.

Rocky Point was such a fun trip and we're glad Travis and Brooke and Gary could go. We had a blast and hope we can get even more people to go down next year! So whoever wants to go, plan on it! :o)
I'm finally done with school now and it feels great. I slept in this morning and have, unfortunately just been doing laundry all day and am trying to get some spring/summer cleaning in. I don't have a job yet but am trying to get one for the summer so...if anyone knows of anything, let me know! Hope everyone is well!
Brooke has a lot of the tri pictures on her camera so hopefully I'll get those soon and post some! Here are other ones:

Congrats on the race. I hear once you do one you get hooked. Tami and I are trying to get psyched up for the marathon in a week and a half!

Wow! Sounds like a fun trip!! I've actually never been to Rocky Point either, so Brooke wasn't alone in that.

Isn't it so nice to get away sometimes?!

Im so jealous you got to go to Rocky Point.. I've always wanted to go to Mexico, but Seth always tells me that they would probably make me stay over there!
